ERP Technical / Integration Subject Matter Expert (SME)

    Job Description

The ERP Technical / Integration SME owns the technical and integration evaluation for ERP selection engagements. The role assesses vendors against hosting and compliance requirements, integration depth to adjacent enterprise platforms, data-migration feasibility from legacy systems, and long-term technical scalability. The Technical SME defines the target-state architecture, evaluates security and compliance posture across finalists, and authors the technical inputs to the implementation roadmap, partnering closely with the project manager and functional SME on integration touchpoints and cross-domain data flows.

    Responsibilities
    Technical Architecture & Evaluation
    • Author the technical sections of the software vendor RFI: hosting options, data-residency, encryption-at-rest and in-transit, identity / SSO, audit-logging, and disaster-recovery.
    • Evaluate each finalist vendor's security and compliance posture in detail; identify any gaps requiring compensating controls.
    • Define the target-state architecture diagram, including the ERP at the center and integration touchpoints to adjacent enterprise platforms.
    • Author the technical-scalability assessment covering data volumes, transaction throughput, and peak loads aligned to projected business growth.
    Integration & Data Migration
    • Specify integration patterns and tooling options (e.g., Oracle Integration Cloud, NetSuite SuiteCloud, Mulesoft, Boomi, Workato) and recommend an approach.
    • Define the data-migration approach: source systems, data quality, mastering rules, and cutover strategy.
    • Score vendor integration capabilities and total cost of ownership.
    Security & Compliance
    • Map vendor capabilities against relevant security and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, FedRAMP, SOC 2, ISO 27001).
    • Document encryption, key management, role-based access, segregation of duties, and audit-logging capabilities for each finalist.
    • Author the compliance and risk narrative in the final evaluation report.
    Roadmap Inputs
    • Author the technical level-of-effort and phasing inputs for the implementation roadmap, including integration sequencing, environments strategy, and disaster-recovery / business-continuity recommendations.
    Required Skills
    ERP Platforms
    • Hands-on experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP and NetSuite (at least one as primary platform).
    • Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, and Workday.
    Integration
    • Designing ERP integrations to construction-management, MES, EHS / compliance, identity, and other enterprise platforms.
    • Hands-on experience with iPaaS / integration platforms (Oracle Integration Cloud, NetSuite SuiteCloud / SuiteScript, Mulesoft, Boomi, Workato).
    • Event-driven and REST integration patterns; master-data governance.
    Security & Compliance
    • Working knowledge of NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, FedRAMP authorization boundaries, and controlled-data handling.
    • Strong understanding of identity / SSO, encryption, key management, segregation of duties, and audit-logging.
    Data
    • Data-migration leadership: source-system extraction, data quality, mastering rules, and cutover strategy.
    • Experience migrating from legacy / spreadsheet-driven environments to Tier-1 ERPs.
    Soft Skills
    • Technical communication for executive audiences.
    • Cross-vendor evaluation rigor and architecture diagramming.
    • Strong written-deliverable skills and the ability to translate technical trade-offs into clear business recommendations.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
    • 12+ years of ERP technical / architecture experience, including hands-on work with at least one Tier-1 cloud ERP.
